Hiding Folders in Hotlist

Is there any way to filter or hide particular folders in the Hotlist?

For instance, I want to use a folder as a shopping list. It would be a simple isolated list of items I need to buy that I would refer to when shopping, and I don't want to be reminded of or see in the Hotlist. Can I filter that folder out?

Or do I need to make a "custom Hotlist" by creating a Specific list(which I'm not really sure would work).

It is not possible to hide folders from the hotlist. You will need to make a custom hotlist by making a saved search: http://www.toodledo.com/info/search.php
