Marking a task as "Not Done" or "Skipped"?

I think there are three possible outcomes to a task:

1. It is DONE in some manner and is so marked.
2. It no longer makes sense and, so, is deleted.
3. It was missed and we want to mark it that way so that we can later see what was missed.

How do you do #3 ?

Hello,

You can use the status field and then view these tasks by clicking on the "status view" on the left side menu. You can also use the tag or context field to mark them as "missed" and then view them the same way.

Tag: https://www.toodledo.com/info/help.php?search=tag
Context: https://www.toodledo.com/info/help.php?search=context
Status: https://www.toodledo.com/info/help.php?search=status

And how do you hide it from the HotList?

You can hide a task from your hotlist by editing it's priority and due-date to not match your hotlist criteria. You could also give it a tag of "hidden" and then use a tag filter to hide it. There are several ways.

Hmmm. Can you also affect the Hotlist via the Status field? That is, if I move the task to Reference (or some other non-Active status), will the Hotlist know that I'm not going to do it right now? If not, shouldn't it?

The status filter should take care of this. The hotlist won't look at the status field.

This is why some (many?) of us no longer use the TD Hotlist. It's relatively easy to create one to meet your exact needs as a Saved Search. Then you can include any field you want, any date restraints you want. Mine excludes certain folders (like my Templates folder), tags (like my Weekly Review tag), and, of course, status.

Hmmm. Given that, then the Feature Request that I would make would be to make the Hotlist into a pointer to the user defined Saved Search and default to a standard Saved Search.

There is a very long-standing request to make the Hotlist more, if not entirely, user definable. I just want ahead and did it.

Another part of this would be cleaning up missed tasks after they've been noted as missed.
