When I make a task repeat, it does not show up in the hot list. Does anyone how to make it so that I can see these tasks - especially the ones for today.

The "repeat" value does not affect which tasks make it on the hotlist. The hotlist is picked by due-date and priority. The exact settings are configurable by you in your account settings.
