I have a gold subscription, shouldn't there be a document attachment icon in my tasks list? Do I have to enable that somewhere? Thanks!

Yes, it should be enabled. It looks like a paperclip. You may have to scroll horizontally if you have lots of columns. Or you may need to click the triangle to display the task's details if you have your list set to view that way.
