in past week I have experienced a very lengthy lag in when my tasks will start showing up (including when I refresh after my tasks do show up) after I login. It seems to be clocking and in Chrome I notice it says waiting for gravatar.com. If I interrupt the loading my tasks will appear but then the site becomes non responsive (e.g. will not respond to my clicks, etc.). this is a work machine and I don't experience the same thing on my personal PC nor iPad.

It sounds like your work network may be blocking certain things that Toodledo users to provide it's service. We will look into it, but in the meantime, you may have luck contacting your work IT department and asking them to stop blocking Toodledo.
