[Caution: Toodledo user for all of half a day...]

Is it some button I pushed accidentally, or is the criteria for inclusion in the hotlist different when I view through the normal web interface vs the iphone 'slim' version?

Right now I see 8 items on my ipod touch, and 3 via the normal web interface. The 3 that appear in the web interface are in positions 3-5 in the longer 8 item lists.

The firefox plugin also shows the same 8 items I see on the ipod, but I think it also uses the 'slim' url so that's not a surprise.

I'm hoping to use the hotlist view to focus my efforts.

Ideally I'd like to spend a few minutes on the main site in the evening or in the morning to shuffle priorities and projects and then only refer to the hotlist through the day until I've conquered it. If it looks different from the main web site to the iphone/'slim' version that'll make things a little confusing.

Perhaps in your web interface, you have some tasks hidden due to filters. Check by clicking "Filters" on the upper right-hand side of the page, on the yellow bar just beneath the tabs.

I also suspect that your filters are blocking some tasks on the main website.
