I cannot comment on ToodleDo's idea about this, but I can suggest you a workaround.
Create a free email account for example - firstname.lastname@example.org, give this id to google wave, verify it, and then set this new gmail account to auto forward all the emails to your ToodleDo address. That should do it.
When google wave sends the verification email to your address, it should be turned into a task, which will have a link in the note of the task. Clicking this link should verify the email address, but I haven't tried this with Google wave, so you'll have to experiment.
