A new version of the Outlook Synchronization Client for Toodledo is available at http://www.chromadrake.com

This update includes the following changes

- The issue where the application was preventing some machines from shutting down should be fixed
- I've added an option to preserve long Outlook Notes after a Toodledo task with a truncated version is created. With this option enabled long Outlook notes will not be overwritten by truncated Toodledo notes if the Toodledo task changes
- I've added the boilerplate disclaimers to the Readme file so I don't have to keep listing them here.

I just downloaded and tried the new version. I get synch errors no matter what Options I select.

Some context:
I had moved all my old Outlook tasks to a new Outlook folder called "Tasks - Old". The default Outlook Task folder was completely empty.
Currently, I use ToodleDo for my task list. So online tasks were up to date (and backed up).
I also tried adding one task to the Outlook Task folder before synching. It did make it to Toodledo.

Hi,

It looks like my application is detecting 4 tasks in your Tasks folder and that 3 of these tasks don't have Subjects. This will most probably create an error when synching with Toodledo. My guess is that there is some old data still floating around that needs cleaning up - or in the worst case there is some sort of corruption of your Outlook data files. Not sure that there is much else I can help you with,as this looks like an Outlook data issue to me at the moment.

The Outlook Sync client has been temporarily blocked from using our API because it has a bug that was causing excessive load on our servers. Once the bug is fixed, we will restore access.

Keef, I sent you an email with more details.

This has probably been explained by the above post from Toodledo, but in case it has not.....

I cannot get past the "First Run" window for Toodledo Sync, after I have entered the Unique ID & password (and yes, I have double checked these) I get an "Authentication Failed." message. I have even tried a different account on Toodledo (a test account) and got the same error message.

Coincidently, it work a couple of hours ago (but that would put the time shortly before Toodledo "pulled the plug" on the Toodledo Sync.

Any answer to this?

Thanks

David

Having the same problem, Dave.

I didn't update until about an hour ago, and I thought the update was the problem, but now that I look back at my previous logs, I had been getting the following error every 15 minutes (my sync interval):

SyncApp.exe Error: 0 : Error during synchronization Root element is missing. at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Exception e)
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ThrowWithoutLineInfo(String res)
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseDocumentContent()

at SynchLib.SyncTool.performIncrementalSynch(SyncInfo syncinfo)
at SynchLib.SyncTool.synchronizeTasks()
at SyncApp.frmOptions.backgroundWorker1_DoWork(Object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e)

This started occuring right around the time frame of the post by ToodleDoo about "pulling the plug".

I too am having the same problem. Authentication is failing and I'm copying and pasting the unique ID. It worked fine yesterday. Is there a fix coming?

It seems to me that this lockout will last quite a while, perhaps days and weeks, since the entire user base will need to upgrade to a new version. That makes Toodledo fairly well useless to me as I can't simply wait for days without Outlook synchronization.

Is there no workaround for this? Perhaps you Toodledo can enable older versions?

I agree. I paid $10 for the Todo app for my Iphone so I could sync Outlook tasks with the Iphone via Toodledo and Chromedrake's Toodledo sync tool. Now, I can no longer sync. I hope somebody comes up with a solution soon.

I also bouth ToDO yesterday. Sync worked fine yesterday, but today I can't start the application. I get the following error:

Fatal error initializing user:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Is this related to the Toodledo issue or is this something else?

Here is what Toodledo told me:

"The Outlook sync app was not written by us, so we do not provide support for it. You can get support at the developers website here:
http://www.chromadrake.com/ChromaticDragon/Default.aspx"

It appears to be an issue with the Outlook Sync app which is in beta so who knows when it will be fixed, if ever.

Sorry about cross posting. It looks like there is problem with Toodledo's API. I logged the data transfer and this is what I saw: (I obscured the userid)

Request
========
GET /api.php?method=getToken;userid=tdxxxxxxxxxxxxxx;appid=chromaticdragonoutlooksyncapp HTTP/1.1
Host: www.toodledo.com

Response
========
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Fri, 08 Aug 2008 19:55:55 GMT
Server: Apache/2.0.52 (Red Hat)
Content-Length: 38
Content-Type: application/xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

I am sure that an empty response is not what the client is expecting.

The lockout is only an issue with the Outlook Sync app which is not developed by Toodledo. For support with the Outlook Sync app, please contact the developer at the above link.

The iPhone app called Todo is not affected by this problem. If you are having unrelated problems with Todo on the iPhone, please contact the developers of Todo at http://www.appigo.com

I should point out that the Outlook sync app was causing connectivity problems with Toodledo that would have crashed our servers due to excessive load. We had to lock it out to prevent Toodledo.com from becoming unavailable. Once Keef has had a chance to fix the bug, we will restore access to the Outlook Sync app.

We will let you know here in these forums once the Outlook Sync app has been fixed by the developer.

It would be nice if the developer (Keef aka Chromatic Dragon) would chime in and give an estimated as to how long it will take to get this fixed. I know it is a free app and is beta so we are all beneficiaries of his/her knowledge and work, but it would still be nice to have an idea as to when or if this will be fixed.

We realize that the Outlook sync app is an important tool for people, so we have developed a filter that we think will restore partial access to the tool. If you still have, or are able to install the previous version of the Outlook sync app, then it should work for you. If you are using the current version, it may work sporadically, but then stop for awhile and then work again. This was the best that we could do until keef is able to post a bug fix.

By "previous version", do you mean 0.9.8.2?
