Hi Dave,

Thanks.

Currently the subtasks are indented if their parent task is visible (not filtered out). The text of the task is indented, but not any of the other columns.

On Toodledo, the whole of the row is indented, but that's not going to be easy to do because of the architecture of TaskAngel.

Subtasks could be indicated in other ways - like changing the font color - but that would spoil the clean look we've tried to create.

In the end it's a matter of personal preference - anyone else want to give us an opinion about this?

Thanks,
Andrew

TaskAngel 1.2 had enough features that it seemed to be worth a download and trial. I am impressed - and I don't impress easily. The user interface is very intuitive -- even better than ToodleDo's. The speed is great. Don't let feature creep slow down performance as you continue developing, please. I bought the iPhone application to sync toodledo with my iPhone and will now buy taskangel to sync with my windows machine. Thanks for this application!

I am still waiting for tags support in TaskAngel.

Is there any ETA for this?

Just tried this app out. It's nice to have a real desktop app for Toodledo. The web interface is nice, but this makes things a lot easier for me.

I'll give it a try for 30 days and see how I do. If you guys had a Mac app, I'd be all set.

Hi Andrew:

Just a question before I try Taskangel. It looks great! However, since TaskAngel doesn't yet support tags, does that mean my tags in ToodleDo will be stripped out when I sync back and forth between the two applications?

Hi David,

TaskAngel should handle tags transparently even now, but this hasn't been extensively tested. On the other hand, we haven't had complaints about people losing tags.

If you can bear to wait, my advice would be to hang on until TaskAngel 1.3, which will support tags fully.

Andrew

Hi,

1.3 is in the final stages of test now, so it should be available quite soon.

I downloaded TaskAngel, and was wary of Syncing it after reading another user's comment about the initial sync being two-way and putting all the default TaskAngel Projects, Contexts, etc. into their existing Toodledo info. Sure enough that's exactly what it does. Suddenly my info has tons of stuff I didn't want mixed in with it.

My only recourse, other than manually trying to find all the new items and delete them, was to delete my entire Toodledo account history and re-import a backup of it. It was un-nerving to say the least, since if it had failed I would have lost over 1000 tasks worth data.

It was my own fault for not heeding the warning I had already seen, but I highly recommend that TaskAngel add the option for a one-way sync. Not everyone wants folders called Fun, Homemaking, etc. I won't be demoing this software further until there is a way to prevent it from adding unwanted items to my existing data.

Hi,

I'm sorry you were inconvenienced by TaskAngel's default projects and contexts. They will be removed in the next version, so the only addition from TaskAngel will be a single "Welcome to TaskAngel" task.

Andrew

Hi,
Has anyone noticed that when TaskAngel syncs a task with Toodledo, TaskAngel add a 12:00 am time regardless of whether the time is set or not? Thanks

Hi, TaskAngel version 1.3 is now available for download. This contains a number of improvements, as follows:

New features
------------
•You can set start times, due times and reminders for your tasks
•You can give tags to your tasks, and filter on them
•You can park TaskAngel in your System Tray
•You can start TaskAngel automatically when Windows starts
•You can set properties of multiple tasks at the same time
•You can delete all completed tasks with one click
•You can install TaskAngel on two computers for the price of one

Small changes
-------------
•The filter panel remembers which filters you have expanded
•Start and due times no longer default to 12:00
•The Font menu item has been moved to the View menu
•Task notes are limited to 5000 characters when syncing with Toodledo
•TaskAngel no longer creates an initial set of projects and contexts

If you have already purchased TaskAngel, version 1.3 is available as a free upgrade. This includes your right to run TaskAngel on up to two computers.

These enhancements have been introduced in response to your feedback on previous versions. As always, we welcome your comments.

Regards,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I've just tried TaskAngel out for the first time now that tags are supported. You've done a great job. The interface is quite straighforward and intuitive and the the navigation tree on the left hand side is great - it makes it so simple to instantaneously display tasks by context, tag, due-date, etc. This is a really cool feature.

Here are a few things I would like to see:
1. Ability to hide future tasks until start date arrives
2. Ability to hide fields not used
3. Ability to hide filters not used (e.g. I don't use Status and therefore don't need that, nor the Next Action flag)
4. Ability to rename 'Projects' to 'Folders'.

The last one is important because it means that TaskAngel doesn't match Toodledo. I have folders named Next, Projects, Reference, Someday and Waiting for. So in TaskAngel these all appear under the 'Projects' label which kinda doesn't make sense. Same for the Next Action filter in the tree.

A few other minor things I noticed:
a. The Task window (i.e. adding a task) does not remember its size if you have changed it. It always defaults back to a set size.
b. There are no window control buttons in the add-a-task window (e.g. X-close, etc).

Overall, this is a great application, and syncing worked perfectly - no problems at all so it seems like a very viable solution for those who want to work offline.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I am glad you like TaskAngel.

I'll put your ideas onto our enhancement list, and publish a new priority list soon.

Re item 2, you already have the ability to hide columns in the Task List. Just right click on a column header, then uncheck any columns you don't want to see. Is that what you meant?

Best wishes,

Andrew
