This is how I have always felt, so if a previous comment has implied otherwise, it was misinterpreted. Please point me towards a comment, that I made, where I said that I don't listen to feedback.

I'm not saying you've ever said that you don't listen to feedback. What you've said is that the forums are only a tiny percentage of the total user base (perhaps 3% or so?) and as such requests for features in the forums are not representative and therefore don't influence your decisions on what you will work on.

I'm not going to spend time searching the forums for this because the search function is quite poor but there are at least a few posts along these lines in one of the news threads.

And as I've said before, I have no issue with this but I do think it's worth pointing out occasionally to eager forum posters who see your "thanks, it's on our todo list" and expect that their request is a given in the coming months. The fact is, said request may never happen.

3% is true, and its true that the 3% is not a representative sample of our user base. But it is absolutely untrue that this doesn't influence our decision. The 3% are the only people who tell us what they want, so we listen very carefully. We just apply some business logic when we prioritize features to account for the other 97% of people.

If someone were to go back and look at feature requests and feature improvements over the years, you would see a high correlation. For example, last year we released the major redesign of our website. Having a "less ugly" website was one of our top 5 request at the time. Had it not been for this common request, we would have never done it.

It is true that we say "its on our to-do list" to some things that may sit on the to-do list for a long time, but this doesn't mean that we don't plan to do it. Just that we have limited resources and cant build everything by next week.

I've been using TD for about 1.5 yrs now, and have, from the beginning, seen a very high correlation between the requests in these forums and the upgrades.

Further, I follow these forums pretty regularly, and can't recall Jeff saying that what is posted in these forums doesn't affect the TD development path. Even if it were true, he'd have to be pretty stupid to say so!

Who is Jeff?

I think you mean Jake.

Anyway, this is what he said:
One thing to keep in mind is that only about 3% of our users have ever set foot in the forums, and an even smaller fraction have posted a comment. So, what you read in the forums shouldn't really be used as a general barometer for the desires of the entire user base.

And as I said before, I don't interpret "general barometer" to mean "not taken into account". YMMV.

@Purveyor - thanks for looking that up. I can rarely get the forum search to find what I want!

@Toodledo - thanks for the additional clarification.

@Salgud - my mileage (kilometerage where I live) does vary. I guess it depends on your point of view and when you started. E.g. if you began using Toodledo a month before the interface change I am sure you would feel it is very responsive. For those power users who waited years and eventually gave up and went to another service, perhaps not.

Some of these guys are prolific online forum posters and quite influential with other users so it's a risk consigning them to the sub-3% category. I'd guess that the critical things they ask for would benefit 97% of users.

There is only one thing I really want and once I get it, I will join the 97% who say nothing.
