How do I get tasks on iPad onto iPhone?

am using toodledo on my iPad and have downloaded it onto my phone. How do I get the 2 to speak to each other? I thought it would happen automatically, but nothing has appeared on my iPhone.

Well, the iPad is magical ... but very little happens "automatically".
You have to configure each device to synchronize with the Toodledo website.
