For now, you can see the names of your deleted tasks by going here:
https://www.toodledo.com/delete_log.php

There are several backup tools here:
https://www.toodledo.com/tools/import_export.php

BTW, what do you mean by "something went wrong"?

As I noted in my original post, I'm using the MYN (Manage Your Now) system....That system doesn't use due dates, only start dates.
Yes, but it seems that the system can't do what you want it to do.

Somewhere, somehow, you need another date. You can wait for Jake to add it to Toodledo or you can use a date that is already available -- Due Date.
Or you can make sure you remember to change the start date when you finish the task.
Or you can try JPR's suggestion.
Or you can ask Linenberger.

It can't repeat from a date it never had.
Actually, it had the date -- the first of each month.

The simple answer is to not change the Start Date, or least examine why it is necessary to change it. Perhaps the Start Date should be the first Monday of each month instead of the first day of the month.

In any case, I can imagine situations where you just want to defer the task a couple of days but you don't want to change the date of the next occurrence. Seems to me, though, that this would require using another date besides Start Date, something like, uh, Due Date perhaps?

Well, the reliability is better than when it first came out but I've stopped using it, mainly because I find the interface to be too complicated, especially the Task section.

I just want a small number of lists, filtered and sorted the way I want them. Pocket Informant has Smart Filters (which are like a less powerful version of Saved Searches) but they show up at the bottom of a screen that also shows Inbox, Folders, Contexts, Tagged, Starred, Next Actions, and a bunch more lists.

The Calendar does show tasks, though.

The most powerful Calendar/Task/Contact/Notes iOS app is Pocket Informant.
It can sync with Toodledo Tasks and Notes, Google Tasks and Calendar, and iOS Calendar, Reminders and Contacts. Also, there's Pocket Informant online sync.
It has Smart Groups (saved searches) and multi-task editing, and a lot more.

But, it is even more complicated than DateBk6.

I think it would be much more useful for the release is stabilized to work on some of the core feature requests which deliver significant value, notably true multilevel subtask support and other topics which have been mentioned (but as subtaks is the feature I use the most, I would love to see this feature as well as the bugfixes/ minor improvements already noted for subtasks).
I agree that core feature requests should be done next but it's highly unlikely that "true multilevel subtask support" will be implemented in the iOS app, given that this feature isn't available on the website.

I'm assuming you mean having more than one level of subtasks. If that's what you mean, take a look at this post by Jake a year ago: https://www.toodledo.com/forums/2/13692/-66418/need-the-ability-to-add-subtask-to-subtask.html

Your backup plan should be your regular backups of your hard drive ... and you regularly backup your hard drive, right? ;-)

You can Google to find out where the iOS apps are stored on your computer, depending on which operating system you have. Then you can make a copy.
Also, if you've already upgraded the app on your computer, you can find the previous version in the Windows Recycle Bin or in the OS X Trash, as long as you haven't emptied it.

And, here is the previous version:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5vpeefb21ldirf5/Toodledo%203.0.1.ipa

Anyway, if you hated the first new version, you probably won't like the new, new version.

When Toodledo brings them in they have no repeat showing.
Toodledo does not bring in anything from Outlook.

Which software are you using to sync with Outlook? You need to contact the company that makes that software.

The 'Timer' field still isn't available on my iPhone - should it be?
Yes.

One of our users has the answer. ;-)
Go into Settings, Fields & Defaults and you can make a choice to use or not use a field; further, the placement of those fields top to bottom dictates what is presented to you in the task list? Totally in your control; how great is that!

canscot,

From the link in the post that you quoted:
The crash logs are located on your computer in various places depending on your computer's operating system. You must first sync your device to your computer via iTunes. Then look in the following location.

Mac: Hold the option key and select "Library" from the "Go" menu. Then navigate to: Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/iPhoneName/Toodledo###.crash

XP: /Documents and Settings/yourName/Application Data/Apple computer/Logs/CrashReporter/iPhoneName/Toodledo###.crash

Vista: /Users/yourName/AppData/Roaming/Apple computer/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/iPhoneName/Toodledo###.crash

Isn't the solution to this called "version 3.0.1"? Go back to a stable version and hope the third time is the charm?
I think that's as likely as an asteroid hitting the Earth ... ;-)

What's slightly more likely (just slightly) is having two versions of the Toodledo app, "Classic" and "New Improved". There have been some pretty good arguments for offering two versions but I don't see that happening.

In any case, Toodledo is web-based first, mobile second. The website has many features that are not available in the iOS app: Saved Searches, Collaboration, file attachments (for Pro Plus subscribers), Scheduler, Statistics, and the ability to move a subtask from one task to another. A lot of room for improvement in the mobile app, besides changing the
"look and feel".

Conversely, there are some nice iOS apps that are primarily mobile, with some type of added web-based functionality. The developers of these apps are trying to create a web environment that is as powerful and stable as Toodledo. So far, they are not even close to succeeding, but they do offer several options for syncing besides their own websites: Toodledo, Google Tasks, iCloud Reminders, and Dropbox. And, the iOS apps have several features that are missing in the Toodledo app: ability to edit multiple tasks, add photos, link Contacts, skip recurring tasks, manually re-order tasks, move subtasks to another task, smart filters, tap-and-hold shortcuts, intelligent parsing of task entry, and more.

Lots of choices.

Check first, of course, that you've only chosen completed tasks.
That covers the "completed" part. You still need some way of specifying "old", unless you want to delete all your completed tasks.

Specify "Date Completed is before" a specific date, or "was not in the last" number of days.

You can try this:

1. Backup your data. See: https://www.toodledo.com/tools/connect_backup.php
Or, you can export your tasks as a CSV file.
See: https://www.toodledo.com/tools/connect_csv.php
2. Create a Search for old, completed tasks. See: https://www.toodledo.com/info/search.php
3. Use the Multi-Edit function to delete the tasks. (Same link as #2 above.)

Then sync your iPhone/iPad.

If you have a Windows computer, Google "install older version iOS app". There are plenty of suggestions.
