Chris,
priorities don't necessarily float to the top, it depends on which view you have set as default. If you had starred for example, you could use stars for items that are urgent but use priorities for tasks which are important but not necessarily date specific. |

Not worth the bother. Synchronisation needs too much personal re-setting which isn't the case with cloud management.

While GTD was the first organisational system I came across and used I haven't stuck to it rigidly over the years although the basic principles are still there. Your implementation is quite simple and when I first started using Toodledo I used it similarly in a lot of ways, especially stars. I haven't ditched priorities yet though, I like the fact that these tasks are bolded so I tend to assign a high priority to tasks that I want to stand out even if they aren't urgent right now.
Folders for Areas of Focus is how I'm doing it, and I haven't really bothered with a projects implementation as of yet as I'm not sure the overhead is worth it. Thanks for that. |

@AJS - you could easily tweak the Focus script to gray-out completed tasks (and use a line-through font also). Yes I did manage to tweak some settings on another theme, but being a non-techie I find it all a bit hit and miss. I look forward to twangus making the necessary changes, both this and the new MacOSX theme are top quality. |

That is a seriously cool UI. Absolutely love the layout and the strike through on done tasks is just the job. Between this and the Focus theme there is little to choose, both are excellent options to add to the other themes. Great work.

I really like the style but for the past few weeks I've settle on the theme by Vintom called "A little Mac like". While I prefer the look of Focus I really like the way Vintom's Mac theme handles tasks which are completed as they "ghost" out leaving the undone tasks clearly visible while retaining a record of the tasks done.
Focus handles completed tasks similarly to most other themes in that you see a small green tick in the box which isn't as effective visually. Otherwise looks-wise the best skin so far for me. |

Tried both the first two GTD and UTDL. The first one I paid for because for $2 it cost less than a sandwich and it's pretty fully featured. I am still trialling UTDL, but having already got GTD I am not sure I need it. I like it's alarm functions, but I can use my calendar function for those and I think I prefer the GTD look and layout. Both solid enough apps in my view.
EDIT: I forgot, one major plus point is that Ultimate to do syncs the notes field in Toodledo. Since I use the Notes to carry non-sensitive reference material that's a major plus. This message was edited Dec 03, 2010. |

Linenberger has now produced a whitepaper and video on his system using Toodledo
http://www.michaellinenberger.com/NewsletterDec2-10.html I used to use his system on Outlook and even now I broadly use the same principals on Toodledo. Worth a look. |

I had to make the move from Microsoft Outlook a couple of years ago so everything went Google so I could access it on my HTC phone.
I've used Remember the Milk and Google Tasks as a task manager, and in fact had set up a Toodledo account before this without it really being given serious consideration. I gave it a proper run for the last month or so and nothing comes close for the money. All the alternatives have some drawback or other which are deal breakers, either pricing or lack of mobile support which is important for me. Toodledo has two perceived weaknesses, UI, which can be addressed with a third party skin, and the lack of "Projects" which can be addressed by Tags or Folders. In reality most people would know what Project a task was associated with anyway. These are far outweighed by the customisation options available and powerful feature set. Grid view offers access to quick editing - reminders, repeats and alarms are all there (you'd be surprised how many don't have these) and crucially comprehensive native mobile support for Apple and Android. |

No Android app so pointless for me at this stage.

When I set a repeating task with an alarm, the alarm doesn't repeat so I have to reset it manually. Is there a way to get the alarm to repeat with the task as well?

Inky would have been perfect without the actual Inky sidebar which overwhelms the rest of the screen. Having tried out various other web task managers though has given me a fresh appreciation of the comprehensive power and use-ability of Toodledo. I had a go at Todoist for example. Supposedly simple but a nightmare to get around unless in dumbo mode, in which case Google Tasks is a much better option if you just want a basic task list.

I am using the Clean blue version at the moment which is also easy on the eye. I use only top priority on very few tasks and the rest I just "star" otherwise a collection of green, blue and red fonts just starts looking psychedelic.
I did edit the Things version to show a bigger font so I may well play with this one and see if I can get it to my liking. Thanks. Nice selection of themes btw, among my favourites along with Toodledoish. |

Most of the alternative skins don't display properly except in vanilla format. Adding priorities introduces a host of weird colours, skewed formats and bolded options which don't sit well.
It's just a shame the native UI colours are so garish and the font so old style. Top priority tasks should display in red or bold black, not orange/brown/green whatever that colour is meant to be.I paid £30 for the pro plus version and now feel like for the extra money paid I'd have been better off sticking with the free version. |

Downloaded the trial version and I think I'll probably pay for this. Syncs absolutely everything even the Notes field which is key as I often need to produce certain information on the go and this is a very quick way of getting to it.

There was no error message, but it seems if I close the browser (Chrome) then re-open it then the sync is successful. Previously I was just refreshing the browser with no joy.

For some reason the software only seems to sync one way, from Toodledo to TaskAngel. Is it supposed to sync both ways as I would find that really useful for changing dates on multiple tasks?

I got that message when I tried to sync Toodledo with Got to Do android app. I did a google search and someone mentioned to use the Task killer app and then it should sync. No idea why but it worked fine.

No it doesn't sync on changes, it syncs by default every 30 mins or longer depending how you set it. You can also sync manually if you need an immediate sync and between the two I manage fine. Like vicmatt who posted earlier, I haven't noticed any sync failures to date so am happy enough for now.
EDIT: There's a new android app Ulitmate-to-do-List which has just been announced in the 3rd Party software forum which seems to have all the features you require: http://www.toodledo.com/forums/8/8195/0/announcing-ultimate-to-do-list-for-android.html This message was edited Nov 02, 2010. |

I can't open that link where it mentions the sync being 'janky', the link seems to be broken. I did find this review on the Androinica site which is where the review came from:
http://androinica.com/2010/03/20/get-more-done-with-got-to-do-a-freemium-android-application/ Very favourable review in general. |
