Recently, there have been a lot of new competitors entering the task management space. It is hard for us to keep track of them all and remember their capabilities. We created a public spreadsheet as a starting point and welcome users to help us fill it out and maintain it.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ajqb7gJHrdlUdGNNMUUxNnpQNkM5NGhYNnE1NzdxRnc

This will help Toodledo keep track of our strengths and weaknesses so that we can keep improving in the right directions.

This is still on our to-do list. I know that it may seem easy to implement, but it is actually quite difficult from a UI point of view. We will get to it eventually, but I do not have an ETA.

We want to make one, and we have made some progress, but we don't currently have enough developers to make this go fast enough.

We are hiring. http://www.toodledo.com/info/jobs.php

You will need to do this in a different way, by using a filter to hide the "wish list" tasks. You could give all these tasks a -1 priority and use the priority filter. That is what I do. You can also use the status, context or tag filters in a similar way.

If you go to the folder management page you can drag and drop the folders into any order you want, which will carry over to the tasks section when sorting by folder.

Ok. It seems that if a due-time is set, but a due-date is not, that it returns a crazy negative number instead of 0. Anything negative should be interpreted as 0. I will get this bug fixed.

Try this. Set the sorts how you want them. Now refresh the page. It should refresh with the same sort. If it does, then it is saving your sort correctly. If not, then there may be a problem with cookies on your computer or some other problem. Please let us know.

From a data perspective, a subtask is a subtask if it has a parent. If it does not have a parent, then it is a regular task, or it is itself a parent.

Drag and drop is the only way to do subtasks on this website, but you can do it through 3rd party apps. You will need to contact the company that makes the app you are using for assistance with their app.

"due in 4 days" means tasks due exactly 4 days from now.
"due in the next 4 days" means tasks due 1,2,3, or 4 days from now.

There is no way that I can think of to have a list that is tasks due this week, that stops at Friday and then automatically resets to next friday when friday passes. If you are ok manually resetting it each week, you can do: "Tasks due after ---" AND "tasks due before ---" where you fill in the dates from the calendar popup.

How do you distinguish a subtask drag and drop from a reordering drag and drop? Requiring the user to shift-drag or switch into some other mode seems a little complicated.

The very fact that there is so much debate in this thread about how to implement manual sorting almost proves my point that an elegant solution isn't obvious.

Global vs per-view has been one sticking point. I'll just point out another. Filters. Suppose you are manually sorting your list of 100 items and you have it all perfect. Now, you apply some filter that hides 90 items leaving 10 displayed. Now, you drag item 5 to position 2. Now, you turn off the filter. What is the new state of the list? Its confusing. There is no good answer, and this would happen all the time. Without a clear, consistent behavior for this scenario, I am very hesitant to proceed with any half-baked solution.

My hesitance comes from my experience with subtasks. I feel that our implementation of subtasks is inelegant. I was persuaded to do it based on customer requests even though I had concerns about how certain things would work. While we have made improvements over the years, and I am happy that we have this feature overall, I think that subtasks are confusing to use and I still do not have a solution for making them perfect. I do not want to repeat this experience, so I want to make sure that if we do implement manual sorting, that it is done in a way that is obvious and clear to everyone.

There is also the small but no longer important fact that I initially made Toodledo because I didn't want to waste time constantly micromanaging the order of my list. I wanted smart sorting options to do that for me, hence "Importance" and 19 ways to sort your list.

This is intentional. We found a few bad websites that were putting iframes around our site and then placing ads on our site. This isn't good.

Unfortunately, there is no way for us to selectively disable iframes on a site by site basis.
