Typing too fast without thinking :) The "not" should not be there.

We have no evidence that Toodledo has been hacked. What we are seeing is a very unusual surge of traffic that overwhelms our servers and causes them to be very slow, which causes the errors that you are seeing.

Because we were prepared this time, we were able to do some things that helped resolve the issue quicker than last time. We are actively working on finding a more permanent solution for this problem. I am sorry for any inconvenience that this may be causing.

For those who like the new Tasks section, it is now possible to make this the default section that you go to in Toodledo. If you want to do this, head over to your account settings and scroll down to the "Default Views" section where you can make the change.

Thanks for the suggestion. We do not comment on timeframes for implementation, but this is on our to-do list.

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. We will investigate and see what we can do. One thing you can do is make the goal column wider, so you can see more of it.

You probably need to go into your account settings and enable the Timer field first. Its under "Fields Used".

This graph shows the number of connections being made to Toodledo.

The red shaded zone is where the server was experiencing trouble. The green line is where I started working on the problem. I made a few configuration changes which helped a little bit and I turned on extra logging so that we could see who was making all those connections. We found a place in Japan and another place in the Netherlands that was making an unusual number of connections. However, before we could do anything about it, it stopped and the site returned to normal. We will be monitoring this closely today and will update if we discover anything else.

This outage was caused by an outside source, not a defect in our servers, but we will be thinking of ways to make our servers more robust so that they can better handle this type of event in the future. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused people.

While investigating the problem, it seems to have resolved itself. It could have been an attack that stopped, or perhaps some search indexing bot gone haywire. We have enabled extra logging, and are monitoring the situation closely.

The website is currently experiencing some server troubles when accessed over an HTTPS connection. It is working fine over HTTP. Right now, it appears to be a Denial of Service attack, but we it could be a load balancer that has gone crazy. We are actively working on it and will update this post when we have more information. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I was not able to reproduce this. Typing a [ put a [ into the task's title for me. The intended keyboard shortcut for toggling the star on a new task is ctrl+alt+8. Can anyone else reproduce this?

Yes, if you open up a popup to edit a folder or due-date or something else, and then you don't type anything for awhile, it will go away automatically. This is intended behavior. We thought that if you opened a popup and then didn't do anything, it probably meant that it was an accident. If there is a reason why the popups should stay open, we can change this behavior. Just let us know.
