There are two good Android apps that are going through some rapid development right now. Both have very responsive developers so it might be easier to get your requests into those than to create your own. GTD DGT has a DGT SODA beta group on Google+ that's working on a complete redesign of the app. MyToodle also has a beta group on G+ that gets early releases & provides feedback on features to be added.
I'd recommend you check both of those apps/groups out before you start writing your own! |

Because I might be thinking ahead about maybe wanting more capability & not want to have to change apps to be able to add those extras? (Not speaking for myself, just trying to think like your hypothetical user.)
Because it has so many apps that interface with it & allow you to use it on so many platforms? (TaskUnifier is a great example of an awesome desktop companion to TD!) Because it has an incredibly responsive development team? Shall I go on? |

Jake, you might want to take a look at the fairly comprehensive list that the folks at Priacta have already put together: http://www.priacta.com/Articles/Comparison_of_GTD_Software.php
It has a wealth of information & is updated regularly. Although it's not always 100% accurate on every little detail, that's not surprising considering the number of applications & parameters they include. In fact, their info is not only how I first became aware of Toodledo but it also helped clinch my decision to become a user! Just thinking it might save you guys some valuable time for working on other things... |

On the Mobile site, if you sort by Status, you have to use a Reverse sort to get the same results as a Normal sort on the regular site. I don't know that it makes a difference but it's the 2nd sort field in both places (importance is first).
It still seems to lose some of its sort settings between uses, too. For example, it comes up with auto for all 3 sort field indicators but it's clearly still sorted by Importance for the first sort. I can't tell what the 2nd sort is but it's definitely not the Status sort I'd set previously! |

"We can't"?? What is preventing all of the forum moderators and administrators from commenting? Did you go read the link that Jake gave in his "can't" response? It *is* the "Read Me First" pinned topic. I guess we all can use a refresher every now & then! |

I have to agree with dontomp - it seems backwards. I'd prefer that things that *are* shared have visual markers rather than the other way around. That way, if there's a visual marker on something I don't want anyone else to see, it attracts my eye to go fix it! Otherwise the arrows are like having too many, too frequent reminders, you become immune to them & they no longer register in your mind. In fact, it's easier to miss the ones without the markers.
Love ya, Jake, mean it but FB has taught me that you should lock everything down to be on the safe side! Just sayin'... P.S. It seems like it would take fewer system resources for TD to mark only the shared items instead of the private ones. This message was edited May 16, 2012. |

@sbolton - check out TaskUnifier! You'll find it works much like TD itself with an active & responsive dev who's also open to suggestions. You might also want to consider trying the TD mobile site in your desktop browser so you can use its offline storage capability. It isn't as pretty but it's fairly functional.
@ben - for your Android, check out DGT GTD paired with their Toodledo extension. You may find you like that even better than UTL. Disclaimer: I have no interest, financial or otherwise, in any of the mentioned apps; I'm simply excited by their capabilities! |

No, I didn't know that! I will give it a try & see how it does for me. There are some cases still that I don't think it will address. For example, if I've jumped from the 1st page to the last without reading in between, won't it then consider that I've read everything in the middle even though I actually haven't? On the longer threads in particular, I've sometimes done just that & want to work on reading from the beginning as I have time. That's when page #s would be really helpful!

Would it be possible to include "Skip to Page" with page #s for multi-page topics in our watchlist? A great example is the topic "What new connections do you want to see?" In the forum itself, it has "Skip to Page" with all the page #s listed; in the watchlist, that doesn't exist. If we're watching a topic, we'd probably like to be able to skip the pages we've already read & just get to where we last read - which may or may not be the last page. Many of the topics on my watchlist are multi-page so being able to "Skip" to whatever page we wanted would be really handy!

Jake, what if you only retained the case used when the tag was first entered & always use that regardless of how it's typed in subsequent uses? Perhaps with an option somewhere to edit it in case we screw up the case the first time we type in that tag. I'd think that would be preferable to a random choice of various cases.

First off, thanks for all your work on what looks to be a great new mobile site! Next, I hate this BB phone & don't want to spend a lot of time testing things but I'd like it to work while I have to put up with it! BB OS 4.5 browser - still sticks on "Loading data."
Using Opera Mini 4.4 brings up mobile site v16 but only intermittently works right. Sometimes on open it says that cookies are not enabled but they are. I've yet to figure out how to check a task off as complete &, within a session, it may or may not save sort options. It also doesn't seem to retain data storage setting whether it complains about cookies or not. I don't know whether it's the site or the loose nut on the KB. Unless you've gotten a BB somewhere, maybe you guys could test with Opera Mini on one of your other phones. If you can get it working, then it'll probably work when used on BB, too. I'll also try playing with it on my PC browser so I can try to determine where the quirks are really coming from... Update: just closing the all tasks tab & then reopening it in FF 11.0 on my PC loses sort settings. This message was edited Mar 24, 2012. |

I've downloaded Opera Mini 4.4 & am trying that but I still run into issues with both Slim & new Mobile. It does seem to be a slightly better browser than the default BB one, though. YMMV.

Other than the exe file, are the files identical between windows.zip & other.zip? It's quicker to ask you than compare them myself...thanks!

Thanks, Jake! I'd already tried clearing all cookies, cache & history & I still haven't gotten the question again. Got another suggestion?
FWIW, I hate BB & it's a long story why I have it but I won't bore you with that - you have more important things to do! I originally played with the new mobile site on my laptop & it's looking good. |

I'm looking for the same thing myself. A quick search of the forums turned up a post that said Slim doesn't work with BB but try http://www.toodledo.com/html instead. I'm just now starting to use that.
I really wanted to try the new mobile site (m.) but I accidentally clicked "no" on the store data locally question & can not get past "Loading Data..." which eventually freezes. I can't figure out how to get back to that question again to see if it'll then work! Any suggestions? |

@Kurt, since you've switched away from OL Tasks to the TD website, you might want to take a look at TaskUnifier. It would give you a desktop app to to manage your tasks that will sync with TD but still be available if you have no Internet connection. The developer is very responsive & hangs out here a lot! See the TaskUnifier: Multiplatform topic in this forum...

I got the update notice in TU that 2.3.0 was available but, when I go to SourceForge to download it, it's not there. It looks like it should be there since all the history areas reflect its availability, Source is there & Binaries directory was last updated 2012-03-07 but there's no 2.3.0 folder & the primary download is still 2.2.0. Where are the 2.3.0 binaries? Did I overlook something?
P.S. Would you rather have feature requests/bug reports/usability suggestions here or via the "log a ..." in TU itself? (Please forgive me if that's already addressed here. I haven't had time & sufficient attention span to read through the whole topic yet!) It's OK if the answers are different for each of those categories. I'd just like to do it via whatever method you most prefer. Thanks! This message was edited Mar 09, 2012. |

Never mind! I determined that Chrome/Chromium & IE all logged in OK with OpenID so it had to be Firefox-specific. The HTTPS Everywhere extension 2.0.1 update broke MyOpenID login. All I had to do to get it working was disable that rule in the extension & it now works again...just in case anyone else runs into the problem. I've reported the issue to EFF/Tor. Thanks!

Posted Mar 08, 2012 in: Main body of task list uses only 2/3rds of available space
Score: 0
I'm not sure what's going on with your vertical problem but I may have something that will help with your horizontal & scroll bar access. Try changing a couple of your display settings: Settings, Tasks, Display Preferences, Edit. Then try choosing "Top is fixed & tasks scoll (experimental)" in the top drop-down menu & check the box immediately below it for "Left sidebar can hide." The latter should help your horizontal scrolling problem to get to the vertical scroll bar, which should end up more accessible anyway with the first suggestion.
You might also try editing your column width & order to fit better on your screen. (In case you don't already know, click the little icon on the right end of the title row.) I have all available columns turned on & have adjusted them to nicely fit my screen with no horizontal scrolling & no real truncation either. Granted I probably have the other end of the display spectrum from you but I don't even have FF maximized! Tip: put your tags all the way on the right in case you use more than one per task; that way you don't have to leave as much space for tags as you would in a interior column. HTH, YMMV |
