Apple has just approved our latest update to our iPhone app. This update requires iPhone OS 3.0.
Version 1.5.2 should be in the App store shortly and will contain the following improvements:

* To make remote notifications more intuitive, the due-time field is now on by default for new users.
* Changed the word "Alarm" to "Remind me" to be consistent with the website and to be more intuitive.
* Now also does an instant sync when checking/un-checking off a task in a list (if you have instant syncing enabled)
* Bug fix for crashes when completing a repeating task.
* Bug fix for displaying the badge on folders with more than 1000 tasks inside.
* Bug fix for crashes when adding a task in certain situations.
* No longer prevents editing when a sync is in progress.
* People who don't want to sync to Toodledo.com will no longer be bugged to setup synchronization.
* When adding a new note, the keyboard will automatically be revealed.
* Adding a time between 12:00noon and 12:59 using a 24 hour clock will now work correctly.
* Push reminders will no longer be occasionally accidentially sent for tasks that you didn't want a reminder for.
* Fixed bug where adding a task and then immediately a subtask to this task, when using "Sync on Edit" may cause the subtask to be detached from its parent.

Known issues:
* If you add a new folder, context or goal on the iPhone you must manually sync it to the website before adding a task to that folder/context/goal otherwise the task will be put in the wrong folder. This will be fixed in version 1.5.3.
* If a sync finishes at the same time that you are quickly scrolling a list, the app may crash. This will be fixed in version 1.5.3.

After looking into it, I don't think it is related to the topics per page thing, but was just a result of the number of posts in that topic from getting out of sync with the actual number of posts in that topic.

If you see the post count differing from the actual post count again, please let me know.

I think the number of people having problems with 3.0 updating is probably very small. Of course, those people are going to be very vocal, which makes the problem sound worse than it is. I haven't seen any media attention on poor upgrade quality, so it is probably isolated problems.

As far as being allowed to sell any version that we want. Yeah, I wish! Apple has a crazy strict system that is incredibly frustrating to use. Most developers agree that dealing with Apple as a developer is a pain in the neck. The review process is a black-box and there is very little documentation about how it works. Apple will only allow you to have 1 version of an application in the App Store. So it is impossible to have the old version and the new version available side-by-side for people who upgrade and those that don't. Apple doesn't seem to care about people who don't update right away. I don't agree with Apple's policy, but there isn't anything that I can do about it. We have to play by Apple's rules in order to get on the iPhone.

Unfortunately, Apple has incredibly stringent rules about what developers are allowed to do. The iTunes app store only carries 1 version of an app at a time. It is not possible to have the old app in the store for 2.2.1 users, and the new version for 3.0 users. Apple just doesn't support this.

Also, it isn't possible for us to distribute copies of the old version to people because Apple only allows us to distribute 100 copies outside of the iTunes store and we have already used this up with beta testers.

I know that it sounds like we are playing the blame game here, but the only thing that we could have done was to delay releasing Push Notifications so that we could remain backwards compatible.

To my knowledge, it isn't possible to have an app that uses Push Notifications that is also backwards compatible with 2.2.1. If it is possible, Apple doesn't have any documentation that explains how to do it.

If you often don't have a network connection and you don't want to be bugged by the warning, just turn off automatic syncing. The warning is there so that people know if their tasks aren't being synced.

The reason why "iPhone" is not appearing on the reminder setup page on this website is because your iPhone has not yet given Toodledo permission to send it notifications. There are a few reasons why this might be the case.

1) You didn't complete steps 1-4 from the help topic previously mentioned.
2) You have Notifications turned off on your iPhone (either global or for Toodledo specifically)
3) Your iPhone has been jailbroken or unlocked to run on a different carrier.
4) Your cell phone carrier doesn't support Push Notifications.

I might have just gotten a little confused. Try moving start-date all the way to the left column. Then save that. Then edit the order again and move it to where you want it.

It doesn't have a speaker, but it has a little internal buzzer. Try using Apple's "Clock" application to set an alarm and you'll hear what it sounds like.

Unfortunately, Apple is allowing people to download our app onto 2.2.1 devices even thought we told them that it was 3.0 only. We are very sorry about this. We have placed a warning in our iTunes description and are trying to contact Apple about why this is happening when it shouldn't.

The only work around is if you happen to use Time Machine or some other backup system that would have backedup the old Toodledo application that was stored on your computer in iTunes. If you have this, just drag it into iTunes to replace the newer version that won't work on your device.

Or, what we recommend, just upgrade to 3.0. I realized that this costs $10 for iPod Touch users, but it is a relatively small price to pay for the enhancements that Apple provides and to be able to get all the new apps that will be released as 3.0 only in the coming months/years.
