Creating Advanced Searches

Toodledo has a simple interface that will allow you to build a set of rules that will match the tasks that you want to find. See figure 1

1 To get to the search page, click the "Search" link in the Ribbon on the left side of the page when you are viewing your tasks.

2To add a new rule, click "Add New Rule"

3 Use boolean operators (AND/OR), sub-rules, and a large selection of parameters, to construct any search that you want.

4Each rule is on its own line. The "Match Any" or "Match All" option will determine how each rule is applied to your tasks. If you select "Match Any", each rule will be applied independently to your tasks. A task that matches any of your rules will show up in the results. If you select "Match All", a task will only appear in the results if it matches every rule that you have set up

5To split a rule into two sub-rules, click the Plus icon

We did this by clicking the "Add Rule" button twice and then clicking the "split rule" button once. In this example, we are looking for uncompleted tasks that are due in the next 5 days AND have a priority of 2 or 3.

Using Search with Batch Edit

The Batch-Edit tool will allow you to quickly perform the same edit on multiple tasks at the same time.

1 Construct a search that finds all the tasks that you want to edit.

2 Select the "Batch-Edit" option from the Action Menu. The Action menu is on the right side of the toolbar above your list.

3 This will reveal a section where you can pick the edits that you want to make. To edit a field, click the checkbox adjacent to that field. Then select or input the new value. See Figure 2

4 Click "Save Changes" and every task in your search will be modified to this new value.
