I just got an e-mail that my account was expiring due to lack of usage. However, I've been using my account, just not from the web.

Does the usage tracking not take into account using the iPhone app?

Usage tracking only takes into account usage on the website. If you only use the iPhone app, then your account on this website is not really doing you anything except for backup, which you get through iTunes anyway.

If you want to keep the website login, just sign in once a year and you'll be ok.
