What is a loose subtask?

I'm stumped by the settings option that reads "Indented mode shows loose subtasks." What is a loose subtask? I know what a subtask is, but what makes one loose (as opposed to... tight?) I interpret a "loose task" as one that is not attached to a parent or child task, so "loose subtask" doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for your help.

This means that when you choose "Indented mode shows loose subtasks", that whey a filter is applied that filters out the parent task but not the subtask, the subtask will show without the parent showing, hence, a "loose subtask".

Oh, that makes sense. Thank you! It would be really helpful if that explanation were in the Help or FAQ somewhere. I searched for it but didn't find it. Thanks again.
