HTML tags appear in task notes

When I click to edit a task note, "br sab="nnn"" where nnn is a 3 digit number appears. If I exit the edit without making any changes, the above end of line codes are not saved. If I make any changes whatsoever, the above characters appear permanently saved in the text. I am using IE9 on Windows 7.
How can I correct this ?

My best guess is that this is caused by a plugin that you have installed in your browser, or a 3rd party app that you have syncing with your account.
