The iCal sync is one-way by design (we didn't design it). If a task has a due-date it will show up on the calendar and if it doesn't have a due-date it will show up on the todo list. Of course, you'll need to make sure that the "remove todo items" checkbox isn't checked when you do a "Get Info" on the subscribed calendar. For some reason Apple checks this checkbox by default.
