No doubt this has been covered before (searching on forums is painful) - I know there was a brief thread on this subject in 2009.
It does surprise me that there is no facility to display the day of the week beside the date of each task. This would be SUCH an improvement.
Hovering over the date with the cursor to get the day is not really ideal.

This is one of our low-priority enhancements that has been sitting in our to-do list for a long time. We'll get to it eventually.
