There is a (meanwhile locked) thread from 2009 where it said this problem is still on the bug list. Now it's 2012 and this feature has still not been implemented. It's very confusing for someone who is used to the D/M/Y format. :-(

Yes, this is still on our bug list. I am sorry. It affects a small fraction of people so we haven't gotten to it yet. I have just increased its priority, so we will get to it sooner. We are in the middle of a big project right now, and then we are going to spend some time concentrating on fixing the outlying bugs.

Thank you very much for speeding this up. When the new function is finally implemented I guess many users have a hard time to "forget" about their "temporary" change-day-with-month-in-emailed-tasks-habit. ;-)

One thing you can do is send the date using words (May 6) instead of the D/M/Y format.
