I would like to suggest having the ability to manually request a tag cache recalculation. It could even be disabled until there have been 'significant' tag edits to prevent spurious clicking.
I have read the prior posts on the method of recalculating tag caches once daily to control workload, and I certainly understand that it can be an expensive operation.
The flip side of that coin is of course, beginning to rely on tags as a filtering method and then being unable to toggle on or off over 90% of tasks when the filter doesn't show the majority of existing tags... and the tag list _hasn't changed_ in weeks.

I dont think that this is an issue with the tag cache getting out of sync (which is rare), but rather with the tag filter only showing a subset of tags. If you have lots of tags, the tag filter is unable to show them all, so it picks a subset to display. I believe that it is the first 50 tags.
