I have created a list. When I add a column I am able to choose the type of information for that column. I do not understand how to use the “List” type. Could you explain that to me? I thought I would create an (a, b, c) list of things to choose from. But when I add a choice, and then try to add the next, the first disappears.

You are correct that the "List" type allows you select from a list, like (a,b,c). Each cell can only hold a single value, and the options you have to select from will be automatically created from the values previously selected. So, if you want (a,b,c) to be the options, you will need to make three rows which each have one of those options selected. When you add a choice and then try to add the next and it disappears, its because you are using one row which can only hold one value.
