Hotlist showing tasks due far in future

I would like to have my Hotlist show tasks of 1-Med or higher, past due or due in the next 7 days. I have my Hotlist set to 1-Med priority, due date next 7 days, and no star. I have the filter set to not show future tasks. However, the Hotlist is still showing tasks that are due far in the future, even into future years. I do not use start dates, and almost all the due date modifiers are "due by". What am I doing wrong??

It probably because those far future tasks have a priority of 1 or higher. A task only has to match one of the criteria you set to appear in the hotlist. If you want to have a more customized hotlist, you can create a "Saved Search" instead.
