Notebook fails

I'm approaching the end of my Pro trial period and trying to decide whether to continue, but I can't get the Notebook to work.
In Chrome, my default browser, calling for a Notebook locks the Toodledo tab and no notebook appears.
In IE, a PDF opens, but it is blank.
Can anyone tell from this description what's going wrong?
