Do location alerts work on iPods? I can't see the switch to turn them on but I don't see anywhere that says it is not compatible. If it is not, why not?

Location alerts require a GPS or 3G antenna. We don't know where you are without these, so it will not work on iPods or Wifi only iPads.

The Toodledo app is able to find my location from the wifi when setting up locations (just like the maps app). Why does the location alerts require the 3G or gps to work?

We use an Apple technology called "Significant Location Change" to determine location in the background and Apple only supports this on devices with a GPS or 3G antennae. When the app is open and running, we can use your wifi location, but this is not available in the background for generating proximity alerts because Apple has not made this possible.
