on the iphone I used to get notification badges for my reoccurring tasks without having to open the app to sync. Since the last update I only get the badge if I happen to open the app on the day the task is due/overdue. Any idea on how to get the app to start giving me badges again? thanks.

You must have turned off alarms or switched them to local alarms. If you go into the Alarms section in the app and switch it back to "alarms come from website" then it will work again without syncing.
