How do I switch to the new layout permanently? I have to 'switch' every time I open Toodledo.

Two things: Go into Profile & Settings/General Settings/Tasks/Default Views and change Task Section Version to New. And secondly, if you are going to Toodledo tasks directly from a bookmark, make sure it also leads to tasks.toodledo.com, and not to www.toodledo.com/tasks.
