Outlook Sync requests contact data from address book?

Just curious if there is a way to disable this or what the purpose is?

I downloaded the outlook sync application and my first attempt to sync Outlook warned that the application was forwarding my contact or something along those lines. I didn't allow it because I wanted to look into it more.

Anything to be concerned about? Or normal and I should just be thankful for a nice application to sync my outlook tasks?

Its normal and it is a 'feature' of the Outlook API

In most Outlook 2003 and some Outlook 2007 environments the Outlook Object Model guard raises security warning whenever certain properties are accessed through the API. One of the ways this message can be triggered is by accessing the Body property of a Task item – which my application obviously needs to do.

Please see this Microsoft article for confirmation: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa168454.aspx

If you are using Outlook 2007 you may be able to disable this by either updating your anti-virus software or using the Trust Center options (Tools -> Trust Center -> Programmatic Access)

If you are using Outlook 2003 then you need to look at some third party utilities. Other users have found some success with these:

Hope that helps
