Hi Dave,

Well, I want to start off with saying that Wunderlist is fine software, but it's feature set and some issues just didn't do it for me. Some things that nagged me:

* Marking a starred, recurring todo as done would retain the star. There was no option to have it remove the star upon completion. I use a number of daily recurring todos (e.g., take my meds, clear out emails, etc.). As part of my workflow, I view my lists and star items that have immediate priority and are things I plan to work on next. With Toodledo, this would work great, I would check off these recurring items and they would leave the starred list. I would then re-star them at end of day to do the next morning.

* The interface for Wunderlist was inconsistent between iOS, Android, Web, and Windows 10. Toodledo differs between the platforms as well, but the Wunderlist one I found a bit more inconsistent. One of the things I do is at the end of day, I like to move whatever todos that just didn't get done to the next day. With Wunderlist, some platforms I could select multiple items and then right-click and set for "due tomorrow." Other platforms, there was no option for this. I found the interaction just okay for this operation. With Toodledo, I use a search for today's tasks, then do a bulk edit to move to the next day. This interaction is a little onerous and it only works on the web, unfortunately. I think having a faster way to bulk-edit would be nice in Toodledo, but I can live with this.

* Wunderlist on the Web: some weird things would happen when synchronizing where there were some kind of "ghost" todos that would pop up as being overdue. The weird thing was that it would happen inconsistently. It happened on my Chromebook once, and happened just yesterday on Chrome on Win 10 for me. The only way to get rid of the ghost todo would be to flush the cache for the site and re-login to have a clean sync. It's something that really nagged me when it happened, and it sort of made me cautious about trusting that Wunderlist would sync my data correctly.

* Wunderlist doesn't have proper tags. I found their #tag system by modifying the todo's title awkward. I stopped using tags altogether when I went to Wunderlist. I didn't use tags often when I used Toodledo before, but at times I did find it useful and I'm glad to have the option again.

* Wunderlist's interface is largely attractive. Toodledo has made many steps forward since it's earlier years and I think now has a nice balance between looks and presentation of meaningful information. After months of use, I found that, on balance, I was probably more productive using Toodledo overall. This is, of course, my own opinion and reflective of my own requirements and workflow in using todo systems.

* One other note, Wunderlist's support system didn't feel very satisfactory. I much prefer the forums here and the regular communications from the team. This is a personal preference, and I understand why Wunderlist would use the systems they do, but it just didn't do it for me.

Well, I hope that's useful. LIke I said, I do think Wunderlist is fine software, and I'm sure it suits a lot of people's needs perfectly well. For myself, I just found that Toodledo does a better job for what I'm looking for out of a todo system and I'm happy to be back using it.

Thanks,
steven

Hi All,

I was a long time Toodledo user that migrated over to Wunderlist for a while and have now returned after missing a number of key features and losing hope that Wunderlist would implement them. I had originally migrated using Todoport, but now that it is a pay service, I figured I could probably write a script to do the conversion back and save a few dollars.

I have created a python script for converting from Wunderlist JSON backups to CSV in a format that is appropriate for Toodledo. I have published it here:

https://github.com/kunstmusik/convert_wunderlist

It's a pretty simple script that filters for non-completed todos, matches them up with Lists and Notes, then writes it out to CSV. It did the job to get me back into Toodledo, and I have made this open source in case there are others moving to Toodledo from Wunderlist who might find this useful.

If you're using this with an existing Toodledo account, please do make a backup before proceeding! :)

All best,
steven

This request may be a bit big, but it would be somewhat of a dream tool for me. I'd love to see a Google Calendar-like interface for the Calendar feature, where one can see day or week with hours of the day, and allow scheduling of items by dragging them into the calendar. The use case for me is: at the start of the day, I'd love to go over my items that are due that day, then block off times to work on those items. I can imagine at the beginning of the day, I see my items that have due dates as "all day" type todos at top. I'd want to drag them into the day to schedule them, so I can plan my day. i.e. work on this from 10-12, this other task from 12-1, etc.

It'd be awesome to then be able to integrate that as a calendar itself in Google Calendar too.

Otherwise, the new calendar layout is already a nice step forward for me and I find I am already using it more than I previously did. The above feature for me would just take it to the next level.

Thanks!

I've been trying out 2.0 today and have been very much pleased. The addition of duration field is great, and I really like the single line view (alt-m shortcut). Overall, very nice release and it has really developed nicely over the past month. Good job. :)

Just thought I'd mention it looks like the drain issue is gone. (!!) very excited, I can now leave the app on and work without problems. New changes in beta from today are really useful: things are looking good!

I just downloaded the beta. Nice job! I've had the app on for about an hour and the battery drain/phone heat-up issue seems to be resolved here (will keep it on rest of day an monitor if any issues arise). The addition of the tags view is great.

If the battery drain issue is finally resolved, I think I'll be happy to once again recommend this product. Good job and good luck working through to the release!

@Taskjot

Ultimately, I think I and others just want to see this product supported and moving on. It sounds like you've started to really put some time and effort back into this and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens. I think the lack of communication for a long period of time did not help anyone's mind to think anything but that this project was dead.

BTW: While you may think you're being honest, some of what you said does come off like you don't care to support your software or your user's concerns. I do understand my particular issue is unique and is difficult to diagnose and fix (I am a software developer involved with mobile and server projects, so I get it). I just didn't think your reply came of as anything but defensive and haughty. I also think your consultant strawman and writing "what a rumor mill" in your first reply after 7 months didn't contribute positively to this dialog. For now, I'm going to chalk this up as a mismatch between your intentions and my perceptions.

Good luck in developing TaskJot and I'll be happy to see a new release.

Well I can't speak for others, but my expectation is that a serious bug where the phone battery is drained and causes the phone to get hot would be a priority to address and warrant a release. I reported this shortly after purchasing and had the impression you were working on it, and checked after each release to see if it was fixed. After the first couple of months communications dropped and I got tired of reporting issues and hearing back "we're busy" without any further follow-up.

As it is, the software has the potential to be great but it is severely flawed to the point where I can't use it as I would like. After paying money for software with the expectation that it would get fixed, then being told "we're busy" and now "we don't want your money", I don't have great confidence as a user that things will change and that you respect your customers very much.

However, I would love for things to change and for this software and your company to regain my confidence. I'd love to see this software bug fixed, and I'd love to see more support and communication from you and your company for this software. I do not think I'm alone as evidenced from this thread that there are other users who feel the software has been neglected.

I purchased Taskjot when it first came out. The first month was great, but since then, I still have a battery drain problem (leave it on and it starts to drain battery and heat up the phone). I only use the app occasionally now and exit it when done. (I got burned by this yesterday on a plane, forgot to turn off Taskjot and 30 minutes later realized it and my battery went from like 95% to 15%, couldn't use phone when I landed).

It's been some 9-10 months of this, no fixes. I've asked about feature requests and for the past 9-10 months no new features have been added. You may not be dead and really busy, but for all intents and purposes, the app has been pretty dead for a while now.

Hi Proximo,

Thanks for confirming that this isn't possible now. I went ahead and filed support ticket 3053 and I guess we'll see what happens!

Thanks!

Hi All,

I'm finding that the app allows editing of items inline, but only for fields which are set to display. I'd like to be able to edit fields once in a while by using some sort of full edit mode. For example, today I wanted to add repeat to a task and had to go and enable that column, come back, edit, then go back to turn off that column. It'd be nice if there was some sort full edit screen to edit all fields for a task. Or am I missing something and it's already possible?

Thanks!
