Checkmarks Disappear

Hi all,
On the far left of my Toodledo screen is a row of squares to put checkmarks into. I believe that checking a square will archive the particular task. When I switch from one page to another, all my checkmarks disappear. Any ideas?

Those squares are used to mark a task done. So in essence, it does archive them. That's how the TD is designed to work.
