Pretty new here also but I do it the way you showed us in you first example.
I build custom homes so tasks with sub tasks for each home. I create a folder for each home. Folder = Home #1 - Home #2 - Home #3 Inside each folder is the list of tasks and sub tasks A1) Contract subtask subtask subtask subtask A2) Plans subtask subtask subtask subtask A3) Permits subtask subtask subtask subtask B1) Demolition subtask subtask subtask subtask B2) Foundations subtask subtask subtask subtask This goes on for the entire list. Each folder has the same list for the most part. I also have a couple of other folders like Other To Do's or whatever. This message was edited Dec 04, 2009. |

What I have been doing until this is updated is us a combination of letters and numbers.
A1 A2 A3 B1 B2 B3 B4 C1 C2 This way if I have to add something I only have to renumber a few parent tasks. Posted by Proximo: +10 for manual sorting.
Now I have two number 4 task and must rename the original number 4 task and all the task below it, just to keep them in the correct order. This is really a pain when you add several task as you work on a Project and realize the complexity is growing. |

The manual ordering of subtasks have made it possible for me to track the construction of new homes without a full blown project planning software.
My biggest hurtle at this point is having the iPhone apps sort the subtasks the same way as the web site. |

Another idea that may be easier to implement...
In folder view sub tasks are not shown in order under the parent task. If you could simply indent or force the sub tasks under each of the parent task, in the same order as on the web site, the nested sub task filter would not need to be modified. Just thinking out loud here. |

No problem,
I have been having a blast playing with this stuff. PT, You may already know this... On the iPhone calendar app you can click on "calendar" and then choose just one of your calendars instead of "all" to filter out the ToDo's if it gets to cluttered. |

Now that I have purchased the 4 most popular todo apps that sync with Toodledo I have a question, or request for the Toodledo iPhone app.
I have a todo list that is over 200 items & duplicated for each house I build. I have to use a folder for each house, within that folder I have to use a task and several subtasks for each stage of construction. For example: House 1 Permits: ..Submit for Demo permit ..Pay the Demo Bond ..Secure sediment control permit ..Secure right of way permit ..Secure electrical permit Site Preparation ..Meet sediment control inspector ..Install Construction entrance ..Install Silt fence ..Demo existing structure ..Clear and grub lot You get the idea. Each task and for the most part subtask has to be done in a specific order. In the app I have to use the folder veiw to narrow my focus to the house at hand by choosing folder view, then a job folder, then filter with "nested subtasks". Here is my problem... when I choose the task, lets say "permits" I am taken to the permits edit task window, I then have to scroll to the bottom of the list to find the sub tasks, then open that window to veiw them. Since I will never or rarely edit the task "permits" it is a round about way of getting to the subtasks. At this point that one action is the only thing preventing me from using your app full time. Do you think this will be changed in upcoming versions? Thank you for the help |

Purchased the toodledo app.
I like it except for one thing. I will start a new thread so I don't clog this one. |

I got this to work with the Add Subscribed Calendar option on the iphone.
Got to: Setting - Mail, Contacts and Calendar Choose - "Add Account" Choose - "OTHER" Choose - "Add Subscribed Calendar" Type - www.toodledo.com/id/your_id_goes_here/ical_live.ics Now all my ToDo's with dates are on my iPhone calendar. !! This message was edited Nov 15, 2009. |

Happy home builder here !!!
Thank you! |

Pocket Informant will place small red dots with the number of due tasks in the calender.
While testing I could not get the todo task numbers to upload to Google calender but it does show up on the iphone. My main problem with PI, no support for sub tasks. That is in the next release as I understand it. |

With Greasemonkey and the "iPhone Emoji Reader" script installed I can now see the colored icon in Firefox.

Hey all,
First let me say that I am still learning the best setup for my use on Toodledo. For now I have settled on: 1) Folders for Projects/Jobs 2) Context for ordering major task 3) Priority to order sub tasks. A1) Contracts task task task A2) Planning A3) Utility disconnects A4) Permits Etc. Now for the iPhone app. When viewing ToDo's by Context I sort them by Project/job. Without any color it is easy to misread the project/job name. To solve this I installed emoji icons. I choose an icon with color, like a red ball, and place that as the first character of the folder name. On the iphone I now have a RED BALL in front of the Project name. On the web application it is just a small Japanese character. Any way to post a picture to the forum ? This message was edited Nov 12, 2009. |

That would be great.
As a new Pro user I am setting up a large ToDo list for building new homes. Once it is all set up I hope to be able to have this list shared and edited by myself and my partner from our iPhones. We will use either Pocket Informant or ToDo. I have purchased both and I am evaluating right now. |
