I use the firefox toodledo app that allows you to set up repeating tasks, which has been great for paying bills, etc. However, I no longer need to be reminded to pay a certain bill, yet I can't seem to find where I can delete a repeating task; I can only "complete" each instance of the repeating task, merely giving the task a new completion date, not actually deleting it. This keeps the task in my to-do list and clutters up the screen.

Is there any way to remove or delete the task for good?

You can do this.
Goto your account settings and enable Trashcan. This puts a trashcan over to the right of the screen next to each task. Click on the Trashcan to delete the task for good.

Or, edit the task to make it no longer repeating.
