Start date isn't used in the calculation of priority.
I think it's rational and reasonably expected that a task that hasn't "started" yet should receive a lower prioritization for this fact.
In general I would love to see you provide some options to customize how the priority is calculated.

Thanks for the suggestion. We can't comment on a timeframe for implementation, but this is on our to-do list.
