create a task and set it to repeat daily.
create another task and set it to repeat daily.
create a third task and set it to not repeat.

drag the second and third task to be sub tasks of the first task.

you now have a repeating parent task with one repeating and one not repeating child.

click the checkmark to show that you have completed the parent task.

doing so marks the non-repeating child task as complete, duplicates the parent task (tomorrow's version, it's repeating correctly) and - somehow - moves the repeating child task to the new instance of the parent.

1) is marking a parent done supposed to automatically mark all it's children?

2) if it is supposed to mark all children as done, then why doesn't it dupe the repeating child and leave a "finished" copy in the original task?

Any ideas when ordering tasks, and multi-edit capabilities will appear in Toodledo, and the iPhone app?

I'm listening to the GTD book and a key emphasis that David Allen makes is to make it as effortless as possible. For example, if you have to walk across the room to file something you will be inclined to create a stack, and the stack will grow to the point where it becomes daunting to go file it and then it doesn't happen. David advocates having the files within arms reach so you can file it in seconds.

Likewise I see the same thing happening with my lists in toodledo. Since there isn't a super easy way to order them, they are growing and are starting to become daunting.

I reviewed my list with my wife this morning, and a full half of the list wasn't actionable at the moment. What's more, the reason things were not actionable was not evident in the list. I did have some tasks saying that they were waiting, but waiting on what? And many tasks were waiting on other tasks to be completed.

I've found that the tag can be useful there. when I mark something as waiting, delegated, on hold, etc, i put in a tag for either the person who's holding it or any task it is waiting on.

you can do it on the iphone easily enough and it makes searching easy - any search for one brings up both items as long as you use consistent naming.

tag makes for a handy cross reference field, if you can spare it.

does anyone here code in eclipse?

would anyone be vaguely interested in a plugin for exporting TODO's from inside a php project and having them become tasks on toodledo?

I'm thinking of writing something along those lines that would allow me to tie comments in my code to specific todo's here.

(I'm prompted to this because the bug tracker that I am currently using ( RT ) doesn't have a way to sync with Zend Studio. I've been putting tasks into my task list, but then they get out of date very quickly, and they're not always useful without context.)

I'm considering upgrading to a Pro membership for the subtask feature but want to know whether I can create subtasks within subtasks--meaning how many different task/subtask levels or nests can I create in each project folder. I often work on projects that have tasks and subtasks each with a number of dependencies. The ability to break down a project beyond just 3 levels (folder, task, subtask) would be helpful.

I've been using goals - (folder [work], goal [project name], task [big task], sub task [prerequisite task to the parent task]

you *need* mass edit tools. as nice as the web 2.0 edit in place is it\'s a not streamlined to change contexts on a dozen or more things in a batch.

put a button at the end of the row to indicate set inclusion then any change that you make to any of those items changes the others accordingly. it\'s a simple implementation - the hard part would be a roll back,

another option could be to allow the return results of any to have a button that turned on

I am a total dofus for saying this before I checked. You can mass edit directly from an advanced search result page. I apologize.

and holy hell I am appreciative

A great start would be in offering an easy way to call on user-created CSS files. That would be a good temporary solution towards a true templating system...

*heh* I was asking for that just the other day

I've tried to figure out the bug you describe, but I cannot see it. Could you explain with a little more detail, like what the criterion you are sorting with is, etc.?

I've got a series of step by step screenshots, bot nowhere to send them.

can you make your theming bundle public and allow users to submit new ones for approval? none of your quite fit what I'm looking for

(like the ability to text-transform capatilize all my folders tasks and so on in the task list, modify the font, etc.)

toodledo I think that's an absolutely fair response - you offer a massive amount of functionality for free and people can help like 90% of issues in the forums that don't deal with transaction data or account problems.

This isn't possible, but we may consider it in a future update.

is there a plan to allow addins? I could write a gantt chart I'm sure

and a burndown as well.

I am tracking projects here and that help.

I love that you\'re using the silk icons. do you have a credits page anywhere?

after creation of a new folder or context focus should return to the input box to facilitate faster entry ability

you need to stop drag select on the main to do page. I frequently intend to click on a field but end up selecting several rows as text instead of triggering the input box

the add multiple page should expand to fit the width of the screen or at least remember a preference and reopen to the same size. I shouldn\'t have to change the UI every time I use a page, not one that I use so often.

folder, context and goal need to be combo boxes not selects. it\'s is an obstruction to workflow to be halfway through adding a new task (or worse... multiple tasks with the add multiple tool) and you have to save them incomplete to go create a context.

tag should also offer you past values while you\'re typing

and the inability edit in place to add a new context goal or folder is also an obstruction to flow, but less so because at that point you\'re already only saving a single field at a time anyway so jumping views for a minute isn\'t a big deal.

is that calendar widget open source? it\'s quite good and why reinvent the wheel for the project I\'m working on. if it\'s not oss are you able to license it?

bug : display any list of tasks with at least two divided sections. create a new task in each section. drag the first to become a child of the second, in the other section.

take the new child object and move it out of the child position so it\'s no longer a child.

------------------------------------- step 1

section 1-----------------------
task a
section 2-----------------------
task b

when section one and two are far apart in the to do list it is non-obvious why the task has disappeared from the first section.
