Easy Integration with Outlook

Hi All,

So maybe this isn't a helpful hint for many people, but it was nice for my purposes.

Goal = Integrate Toodledo w/ Outlook 2007.
Problem = Nothing exists which does this, and which maps my fields properly. (Chromadrake's software isn't working for me. It won't map my subtasks.)
Problem #2 = I'm techno-incompetent.

Stupid Solution =
1) In Outlook 2007, in the upper right hand corner, select "New" --> "New Folder."
2) In the pop-up, create a name for the folder (I used "Toodledo") and set it to "Task Items" in the dropdown, and select "Tasks" as the location for the new folder.
3) Right-click on the new "Toodledo" folder, and select "Properties."
4) In the pop-up, click the "Home Page" tab, and enter the following: http://www.toodledo.com/slim
5) Select "Show home page by default for this folder"
6) Hit "OK."
7) Enjoy the minimalistic Toodledo site within your Outlook tasks folder.

Now, I know this is not true integration with Outlook, but it's better than nothing. And, if your Outlook has a blue color scheme, it even fits with the general look.

If someone can recommend a better approach, please do!

PS - If you prefer a certain view on load-up, try the following instead:

I say bravo. An elegant solution for many situations. It was quick and easy and so far perfect for the application I had.

Awesome trick! I just put http//www.toodledo.com instead and I get the same as site right in Outlook. (Better for me as it hides deferred tasks ($Hold, $Waiting, etc)... and future start dates, etc).
Very nice, thanks much.

Yes it's virtually the same... select folders... which is in the middle of the screen...

Thank you so much for posting this tip. This solved my problem of continuing to use Outlook as a Task manager with my HP Touchpad.. What a great way to achieve the desired result..

Nice and easy tip. As said, not a true integration but as close as you can get if you have outlook and toodledo as your task managing tools.

Hmmm ... I seem to be missing something about this trick.
Why not just open Toodledo in a browser?

This is very convenient for someone who uses Outlook for all other PIM activities. While it is the same as opening in a browser, this has more of a "unified" feeling for Outlook users.

I use Outlook at work all day, so it is always open. This makes it convenient for to add tasks all day long as emails pop-up. Very simple trick, but very effective and useful. Thanks, dan.julian!
