Thanks, Jake.

Please put it as a suggestion for the future.

Eliminating an extra click is always a good thing, and saving screen real estate or keeping things less cluttered is not needed here.

I switched to the new view.

With the old version, I clicked "Add Task" and was immediately able to select a date/time/and alarm.

Is it true that now I need an additional mouse click to be able to add that information?

If so, yes, it's only one click, but it makes it more cumbersome. I have tons of screen space. You could cover up the rightmost columns and it wouldn't be a problem.

Please consider something like this:

I chose a ringtone like this:

https://goo.gl/photos/oQQJDTLwadw9rXso9

I selected Trigger device based alarms notifications

I did not select Alarm Insistent

However, when an alarm sounded, it kept repeating.

Am I misunderstanding something?

When I chose to change the notification ringtone on my Nexus 7 (Toodledo 6.5.2), I chose to use a media app (and selected always use this) to select the ringtone. I got a screen like this:

https://goo.gl/photos/XRN3EELMQW9AoBCd6

Now, however, I want to choose a ringtone using a different app. That is, I want to be able to select any file on my device. I don't know the name of the app that is currently being used, so I can't make it no longer the default.

Any suggestions for undo that default selection? Anyone know the name of that app showing that above screen.

Thanks,

Al

Here are three things you may want to do/change/fix.

1. Send a reminder to a subscriber telling them that their subscription is about the expire, and give them an easy one-button way to re-up.

2. Fix this: Some alarms will still fire one minute before the due date/time. Others will not

3. If the subscriber has set up both browser and email notifications, then after the expiration, it will see that he/she has only one. The only way to delete the non-showing one is to delete both then re-add one.

I can now reproduce the problem related to alarm time.

I had an alarm that would fire at 9 AM (Clean the House). After my subscription lapsed, it showed as firing 1 hour before the event. However, it fires at 9 AM.

Is there any way to set all these things to alarm when they say they will?

I had some alarms fail, both on the PC and Nexus. I rebooted the next, and they are now working in both locations.

I'll post if I have more problems.

My subscription apparently expired this September. I didn't receive any notifications or renewal suggestions.

But what did happen, is that all my alarms started firing 1 Hr in advance instead of 1 Min. That actually caused some problems.

I got it figured out, and right now I'm deciding whether to renew. But I've gotten some alarms at the wrong times. For example, here are my to-do items for today:

I got an alarm at 9 AM, but I also got an alarm at 10 AM. Can you tell me where that alarm came from? It was definitely from ToodleDo, because I have a specific alarm audio for TD.

Thanks,

Al

I think you aren't actually turning off your Nexus, because if it was turned off, it would not sounds the alarm.

I think you are actually putting your phone to sleep or in standby mode, when alarms continue to work.

Thanks, Jake.

I would have thought that's true, but for the test I described, I pushed the button on the Nexus 7 to turn it off. It is never more off than that.

I just experimented three more times, and it hasn't failed (set a task a few minutes in the future, push button turn it off, wait).

On the other hand, a few minutes ago, my Nexus was sitting here next to me and failed to sound an alarm when a repeating task fired off (displaying an alert on my computer).

My conclusion at this point is that some alarms will fire when the Nexus is off, and others will not. Does it fail only for repeating tasks? Is it related to my custom alarm tone?

Thanks,

Al

>Unfortunately, this isn't how it currently works. The phone must be on at the time of the notification for it to occur.

I'd like to understand this. I set a task with an alarm that will go off in a minute. Then I turn off my Nexus 7.

In a minute, the Nexus sounds the alarm. It clearly did not need to be on at the time of the notification.

What am I missing?

You mentioned that the phone was turned off. I think maybe you were expecting the missed notification to fire once you turned the phone back on. Unfortunately, this isn't how it currently works. The phone must be on at the time of the notification for it to occur.

Thanks, Jake.

Every morning at 7:59 my phone (Nexus 7, actually) sounds the Toodle-Do alarm for some task even when it is off. That is, it works fine. It does exactly what I want: Sounds the alarm at the specified time, whether the phone is on or off.

Same with test tasks.

But for some reason, that one alarm did not sound.

I've been a happy user of Toodle-do for months now.

Today I had an alarm that should have sounded at 4 PM. A notification appeared on my PC, but no alarm occurred on the Nexus 7, which was turned off and ten feet away from me. I had set that task/alarm yesterday.

I created a test alarm, and that worked fine.

Any ideas for where to look to figure out what went wrong?

Today I brought up ToodleDo when I was offline. I was asked to log in, but couldn't and was stuck at this screen:

Other times I haven't had that problem when offline.

How do I avoid this in the future?

Here's something that happened to me because the date-selection system isn't quite standard.

I wanted to put in my next dentist appt for 7/25/2016. I advanced months from October to July, selected the 25th, and moved the cursor away from the dialog.

It showed the task as due in the past.

SUGGESTION 1: Advance the year when you go from Dec to Jan.

I opened the date entry dialog, and switched the year from 2015 to 2016. It didn't "take," because I didn't click on the day in the calendar box.

SUGGESTION 2: If someone changes the year, keep the same day of the month, and change the year.

SUGGESTION 3: Google has a gazillion dollars for development. They have quadrillions of users who have given them feedback on their calendar app. Their date/time entry has been perfected. Just copy their basic date/time entry system. If you try to reinvent the wheel, your wheel won't be as good.

Just wanted to share what happened today. I brought up Toodledo's page, and there were no tasks in my list. I got a popup about a new feature.

I went to the forum to see if this was happening to others as well. Didn't see any posts.

Went back to my main page, and it told me I had to sign in. Signed in, and all was okay.

It shouldn't happen that way.

The more I use ToodleDo, the more I enjoy it.

You're probably already working on this, but I'd like to stress how nice it would be.

Currently, when my Nexus is charging and a to do alarm fires, I must pick it up, turn it on, and swipe down to silence it. If I am occupied, I need to open ToodleDo and reschedule.

By contrast, when a Google's Clock app alarm goes off, it turns on the device and displays a dialog for snoozing or dismissing the alarm:

http://i.imgur.com/nMKkPm2.png

I hope that something like that will be in the next release.

P.S. No need to always say: "We do not comment on timeframes for implementation," unless someone asks when a feature will be available. It makes you seem confrontational.

Thanks,

Al

The Nexus 7 alarm app will sound an alarm for a few seconds, then wait a few minutes and sound it again.

I've added the same to ToodleDo by recording an alarm ringtone that beeps, then waits several minutes and beeps again. I also add some speech, so that I won't wonder what device is beeping.

You can download it here: http://tiny.cc/ToodleDoAlarm

I'm sure at some point you will be adding a time picker control to your date/time selection dialog.

The date picker works well, with a minimum number of mouse clicks required. I hope you'll choose a time picker that only requires 2-3 clicks, something like this:

I'm not sure you can do anything about this, but here's what happened to me while evaluating ToodleDo:

I wanted an alarm to go off every day at 9:21 AM. I set a task to repeat daily. The alarm went off fine the first time, but not the next day.

I finally realized that unless I completed the task, it wouldn't repeat--the alarm wouldn't go off.

That's a reasonable way to do things, but realize that some users may think the app is buggy due to that behavior.
