I know it is a petty request.
I have the sidebar closed all the time. If I go click add multiple tasks, do what I have to do, hit "Add Tasks", it clears the form and adds the tasks. It would be nice if either the default behavior was to go back to the Task List automatically, or add a link to go back to the Task List. I know, I know, "Well just open up your sidebar and click task list you lazy bum!" It was just something that's been irking me for awhile and finally got around to posting this. |

There have been a number of request for Notebook sync with the iPhone app, and there is currently an iPhone app called Notebook made by Appigo which syncs with the Toodledo Notebook. See! iPhone, iPhone, iPhone! grrrrrr I am being sarcastic now, and am playing, just so you know! ;-) |

Too much effort going into iPhone development?
Don't take this question the wrong way. If the devs/Toodledo is prospering on the iPhone platform, more power to them, in the long run it will benefit everyone. But, from a person who doesn't own an iPhone (yes, I want one, but can't afford it, but don't take this post as me being a hater). There has been some good requests that would benefit everyone, like nesting of subtasks, dependent subtasks, and my own request of having an icon in the non-gridded view showing that a task has a file or notes in it. I hope noone takes offense to this, I am just wondering, and hoping that there is not a disconnect between the development going on with the iPhone and the regular Joes like me. Thanks. |

OK, let's leave politics out of this. ;-) I think I've been using Toodledo for almost 2 years now, I put my whole workload in it, and am getting more and more people in my company using it. Do I place all my eggs in Toodledo's basket? No, anyone who would do that is foolish. Toodledo is a tool, sometimes tools break and you can't get something done right away, access should never be taken for granted. I think the big Toodledo-er in the sky is handling these outages beutifully. Keep up the good work. |

Using Toodledo by myself was just fine until I started getting my whole CAD department signed on.
I've already expressed my thoughts on tasks not being placed in the person you reassign them to folder of the same name. To the point of this post..... Is there a quick way for me to tell what tasks I have reassigned seperated by person so I can check on their status, see if I even logged in a task and reassigned it. I know the powers that be realize some of the shortcomings of Collaboration and are working to improve it, but I thought this might be something I can do now somehow. Everytime I reassign a task, I feel like it is getting dropped into a black hole. |

I just realized that when I create a task I have the ability to set the folder that it will go in on my collaborator's list.
So there must be a link there already? If I can see their folders, and assign the folder only when creating the task, why not when reassigning? |

There is the setup default task in account settings, I know it's not exactly what you are looking for. Just thought I'd mention it, in case it got looked over.

There was a pretty lengthy discussion about the First one you brought up. I myself would like it to behave the same as you describe.
I don't quite remember exactly what the devs said about auto-updating when you change a value, but I do seem to remember that they mentioned that the majority of the users login to toodledo throughout the day, they enter a task and close toodledo, they open it for a few minutes and close it, I guess the reasoning was if people in general are always opening and closing toodledo they generally don't have a problem. I use Prism in firefox to make toodledo like a standalone application, so mine is always up and I am constantly in their changing things. Your second part I agree with also, but I would imagine that there would need to be a lot of backend programming that the devs feel could be spent elsewhere. The adaptability of toodledo to ones own liking, from a functional standpoint is tops, none of the others can touch it. just my pennies worth, ryan |

Everyone has their own way of interpreting GTD, and even without reading the book, generate their own system of organizing. I'll answer the question anyway, so maybe you can help me workaround this, because, like I said before, if I assign a task and it doesn't go into the same folder as the recepient, it isn't really collaboration, and am always afraid that the person will miss it so after assigning the task, I got into theirs and change the "no folder" to match whatever folder it is in mine. I work in the CAD/Engineering department, so tasks for me are ECO's and RFD's, which are turned into me via a printed out PDF form. Each of my folders are filing areas for whatever productline the ECO/RFD is for. If it's for our product "XYZ Filler Stuff" it goes in that folder. If it's an ECO/RFD for "ABC Product Stuff", it goes into it. I realize that it's on the Dev's radar and I don't want to beat a dead horse because I could go on for hours pleading my case. But if it's something that is a flaw in "my" organizing system I'd like to know how to correct it. Thanks for the replies, it's helped relieve the frustration of why it doesn't behave like I think it should. |

OK, now I can see the problems this can cause.
However, respectfully, I think you are both assuming that the person assigning the task and the person receiving the task are not collaborating at all to begin with. Context I can understand, traditionally they are used for the location at which the task needs to be done. When I sign up a new account for a person in house, I make them the same 4 folders that I have, each one representing one of the product lines our company makes, make each one sharable between everyone. I also make one more called Personal and mark it as private. In this environment, when everyone has the same Folders setup, some of the reasons for not being able to do it aren't a problem anymore. I do the same thing for contexts now that I am using that as a field to enter the person requesting a drawing so people that aren't using Toodledo can use my public viewing page and sort by their name to check on the status of their request. Now if all the collaborators in the company have the same folder names, same contexts, why can't their be a check to see when a task is assigned or reassigned if the person has a folder or context with the same value and set it when it comes to them so it follows from person to person. I'm sure it is much more complicated on the backend than I perceive. But it also still makes me question why can't it wok in a situation like I described above. |

I just started using contexts as the name of the person submitting an ECO, this not transfering on an, assign, reassign like you already mentioned.
Why do tags transfer and these don't? These two issues break collaboration in my opinion, and make it more of a hassle than a good working feature. |

ok, thank you for the workaround.
i know there are a lot of requests on your plate, but I imagine this would be a pretty popular one. It probably makes it even worse when you have such an open system for us users to enter tasks, that some use folders when they should use tags, etc. |

Ah, I see what you mean.
Personally I like them, I have a truckload of tasks and it keeps me from haveing to scroll so much. There is a "Toggle Dividers" anyway, isn't there? |
