Posted Aug 22, 2011 in: Will Toodledo work with MS Outlook for Macbook
Score: 0
I think that the simple answer is "No".
Toodledo does not directly support Outlook on any computer, whether it's a PC or a Mac. There's some 3rd party software that works with Outlook but I'm pretty sure that it's just the Windows version. Check out: http://www.toodledo.com/tools/directory.php?expand=5 |

Posted Aug 07, 2011 in: Confused - can I have tasks on certain days without due date?
Score: 0
It seems that you could use a "date modifier": http://www.toodledo.com/info/help.php?sel=42
"Optionally on: You can also designate a task as optional ... if the date passes and you have not completed the task, the task will be automatically removed, or moved forward if it is a repeating task." When you set the Due Date, the default is "Due by". You can change this to "Optionally on". This message was edited Aug 07, 2011. |

The "Date added" field shows up only when you sort by "Date added". The only way of getting rid of it is to sort by some other column. "Date modified" and "Date completed" work the same way. Also, you can't modify any of these fields..
For all other fields, go to Settings to view or hide a field: http://www.toodledo.com/account_edit.php?edit=8 |

The Toodledo iPhone app is available only through the iTunes App Store. This a restriction imposed by Apple for all iPhone/iPad apps.
There is no free version of the Toodledo iPhone app. |

You're probably in View by Search (on the left menu).
Try Main or any of the other "View by" options. |

There is no option to repeat a task hourly.

Sorry, this isn't available with Toodledo.
The reminder is triggered only once for each instance of a task. You would need to edit the reminder if you want another one in, say, an hour. |

Score: 0
Good. You need use the same account if you want both devices to be in sync with each other, but you need to sync each device with the website.
This means that: 1. if you change a task on your iPhone and 2. then you change the same task on your iPad 3. but you don't sync your iPhone with the website before making the change on the iPad, 4. and then you sync your iPad with the website 5. you will lose the changes that you made on your iPhone. To avoid this problem, set your devices to "Sync on Start/Quit" and "Sync on Edit" by going to Settings, Synchronization. There's still a slight risk of losing a change if you don't have internet access at the time that you make any changes and at the time that you exit Toodledo on your iPhone or iPad, and you forget to sync later on. Hope that helps. |

You can't directly sync your iPad with your iPhone. You sync each device with the Toodledo website.
When you say "populated it with my tasks", it seems that you have already synchronized your iPad with the website by following the instructions here: http://www.toodledo.com/info/help.php?sel=101 Are you using the same Toodledo account on both devices? |

Type "tomorrow" in the date field instead of choosing a date from the calendar.

I am surprised that you are surprised. ;) Actually, I tend to agree with you. I think that it would get clumsy to have data in two places and maintain the connection between the two. Toodledo is a great online task manager, with primitive note-taking abilities. Evernote is a great note-taking application, with primitive task management. In theory, it makes sense to integrate the two. But, if you want powerful task management with enhanced note taking, I think that it would be better if Toodledo had rich-text formatting and the ability to copy and paste images in Notes and the Notebook. For now, you can copy and paste links in Toodledo notes to access Evernote folders and notes online. This message was edited Jan 04, 2011. |

Are you using the Toodledo iPhone app? http://www.toodledo.com/info/iphone.php
If yes, then Goals automatically sync whenever you sync the iPhone app. If you don't see Goals on your iPhone, then try the instructions here: http://www.toodledo.com/info/help.php?sel=74 If you are using another iPhone app, then you would need to contact the developer of that app. |

Yes, you're right: Tag is the only field which allows multiple values.
Context and Tag can be filtered on multiple values. (Using the Filter function.) Folders can be archived: http://www.toodledo.com/info/help.php?sel=15. BTW, also take a look at Goals: http://www.toodledo.com/info/help.php?sel=43 |

What makes it even funnier is that the third post in this topic has a link to "Certain fields are missing on the iPhone".
Just shows why it's generally not a good idea to provide just a link without an explanation. |

Posted Dec 30, 2010 in: I'm not seeing my daily tasks - what am I doing wrong?
Score: 0
Toodledo is designed to show the next instance of a repeating task and not every future instance of that task.
If you want to track repeating appointments and you want to see all future instances of those appointments, you'll need to use something like Outlook, Google Calendar, the calender in your smart phone, or some other calendar program. |

Not sure what filling a jar has to do with getting tasks done, seems like a poor analogy to me. YMMV. Here's the relevant link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VDxKLSyksI This message was edited Dec 29, 2010. |

Fine if not everybody agrees on the importance of doing big tasks first. Those who don't may want to ponder the advice I got a decade ago (and followed ever since with much success): given sand, pebbles, and rocks to put in a jar, starting with the sand or pebbles will not get you very far... I'm not disputing the success that you have had over the years but it seems to me that you are being too literal in your interpretation of Stephen Covey's rock/pebbles/sand analogy. "Big" tasks don't necessarily take the most time --- they are just the most important. Sorting by decreasing task length does not necessarily bring the important tasks to the top of the list. Also, you say: One of the first things any time management book tells you is to start with big (long) tasks. (Emphasis mine.) One of the most popular time management books is David Allen's Getting Things Done. This book does not say to start with the "big (long) tasks". It says to pay attention to what has your attention, and to determine the next action for those things that you think are important. Hope that helps. |

It seems that you are referring to the Pro Plus feature: http://www.toodledo.com/files.php
The Toodledo iPhone app does not allow you to access your files. |

You can sort your task list by whatever you field you want, including Goals, by using the Sort function near the top right of the screen.
But, the order for Goals will be alphabetical and not by type of goal, i.e. Lifelong, Long-term and Short-term. |
